Fourth International Meeting GIBB2025

Catania (CT), June 12-14, 2025

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to attend the GIBB International Meeting 2025. The Conference will be held between June 12 (starting at 2 pm) and June 14 afternoon, 2025 in Catania, Sicily, Italy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catania). We are very much looking forward to hosting this major scientific event, which is the fourth International Edition of the Annual Meeting of the Italian Group of Biomembranes and Bioenergetics (GIBB).

The meeting is open to the International Community with its unique format, which is mostly based on oral presentations given by Junior Scientists (PhD Students and Postdocs). No poster session will be organized. The meeting is meant as an opportunity for young researchers who will give oral presentations. The opening lecture of GIBB2024 will be delivered by a distinguished Invited Speaker. Parallel symposia will be organized only if attendance will beat our expectations! The program is currently in progress, since it will be assembled on the basis of participants. It is therefore important that you carefully match the deadlines, so that we can optimize the Meeting schedule.

The final Program will be e-mailed and posted on our website after all abstracts and registrations have been received (deadline is April 30th, 2025).

The Meeting will be held in the Monastery of Benedectine monks in the old part of the city of Catania a scenic and pictoresque venue for the Meeting. Catania is very well connected to many European towns thanks to its busy airport of Fontanarossa, which is served by major Airlines and low-cost Carriers.
During the Meeting, the weather is expected to be pleasantly warm, not too hot, and it will be possible to visit Catania’s popular beaches. Catania was founded by Greek settlers in 729- B.C., and displays layer over layer of its old history and civilization. Sicily is renowned for its hospitality and superb traditions for fine food and wine. The meeting program includes the welcome cocktail, which will be held in the gardens of Villa Cerami, an ancient noble residence, and the social dinner by a renowned chef, in the charming location of Catania's botanical garden. Another great attraction of Catania is the nearby Etna mountain, the highest active European volcano. With its 3,400 mt height and 30 min distance by car, it is another unique opportunity for sightseeing around Catania. Our friendly advice is that you plan to take time off and stay in Sicily for a little longer!!!
